The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team will travel to play their third consecutive road game on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 at Brian Kelly Stadium in Worcester, Mass. against Assumption for a Northeast 10 Conference matchup.

Assumption Spectator Policy 
  • Assumption University is happy to welcome family members, alumni, and fans to attend athletic events beginning Friday, September 24th. Family members, alumni, and fans must be fully vaccinatedUnvaccinated guests will not be permitted on campus at this time. No one under 12 years old will be permitted on campus at this time.
  • All guests must register to come to campus five days prior to arrival at this link: Fall 2021 Campus Access Registration. Upon receipt of the registration, University staff will verify vaccination and will email the guest with a "guest pass" that will need to be shared with the gatehouse attendant upon arrival.  It is important to remember that each individual in the vehicle will have to register and will have to display their guest pass. In addition to being fully vaccinated, guests must follow current Assumption University health protocols, including the current mask wearing policy.
  • Per the City of Worcester, mandatory masking is required indoors, including during competition.

All-Time Against Assumption: 14-5-1
The Last Time They Met: Southern fell to Assumption 2-1, on Sept. 17, 2019 at Jess Dow Field. Juan Avila (Clinton, Conn.) assisted on a goal to Daniel Utgaardwhile Andrey Carvalho had seven saves. 

Player Notes
  • Against New Haven, Slapak became the fifth Southern player and third Southern freshman to score a goal. 
  • Against New Haven, Bassett recorded his second consecutive game with at least seven saves, and his sixth game this season with at least five saves. 
  • Juan Alava (Guayaquil, Ecuador) goal was against Adelphi his second in an Owls' uniform. He previously scored against Saint Michael's on Sept. 18, 2021. Before arriving at Southern, he scored three goals in two seasons played at Nassau Community College.
  • Leroy Best (Bielefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany) and Alava currently lead the Owls with two goals scored this season.
  • Alex da Cunha's (Norderstedt, Germany) assist to Alava against Adelphi was the first of his collegiate career. 
  • Bassett's seven saves against Adelphi was one off his season-high of eight, done on Sept. 18, 2021 against Saint Michael's.
  • Bassett recorded his second shutout of the season against Saint Michael's (also done against Bridgeport on Sept. 8) and sixth of his career. 
  • Against Saint Michael's, Jalen Jean (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and Best became the first freshman duo to both record a goal in a game since Devante Teixeira and Jan-Malte Thesenvitz did so on Oct. 1, 2016 against Saint Anselm. 
  • Best became the first player to score a goal in their first career game at Southern since Louis Greenway Tambini did so on Sept. 3, 2015 against Dominican. 
  • Against Saint Michael's, Jean became the first Southern freshman to record a goal and an assist in the same game since Chae Brangman did so on Nov. 4, 2014 against Franklin Pierce.

  • Bassett ranks third in in the NE10 in saves (46) and sixth in shutouts (2).
