Women's Soccer Shuts Out Le Moyne, 3-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team shut out Le Moyne, 3-0, on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 in a Northeast 10 matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the win, the Owls improve to 2-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the NE10, while the Dolphins fall to 1-5-2 overall and 0-4-2 in the NE10.

Kaitlyn D'Amico (Middletown, Conn.), Kelsey Burr (Wallingford, Conn.), and Aries Bell (Beacon Falls, Conn.) all scored goals for Southern, while Allie Smith had four saves. Kylee Slavik (Plymouth, Mass.) and Emma McMurray (Middletown, Conn.) both recorded an assist each.

How It Happened
  • D'Amico got the Owls started in the first half, as she found the back of the net in the 19th minute of play to give Southern a 1-0 lead. After bringing the ball up the field, D'Amico created separation from her defender by spinning and shooting into the top right corner for her second score of the season. Southern would take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
  • Burr and Slavik teamed up in the 59th minute to give Southern a 2-0 lead. Slavik made a quick pass to Burr in the box, who kicked it in with her left foot for the goal.
  • Less than a minute later, Bell kicked it in with her left foot off an assist from McMurrray to give Southern a 3-0 lead until the final horn sounded.

  • Smith recorded her second shutout of the season and 10th of her career.
