The Southern Connecticut State University football team travels to Rindge, N.H. on Saturday, Oct. 23 to take on Franklin Pierce in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Sodexo Field. The Owls enter the game with a record of 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the NE10 while Franklin Pierce is currently 0-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

ALL-TIME AGAINST FRANKLIN PIERCE
Southern won the only meeting between the two teams all-time, 55-27, on Oct. 5, 2019 at Jess Dow Field, as the 2019 season marked the Ravens' first at the NCAA Division II level. The Owls' trip to Rindge this weekend will be their first at Sodexo Field.

THE LAST TIME THEY PLAYED
  • Jonmichael Bivona led the Owls with three rushing touchdowns on a day when Southern featured nine different players rush the football. Bivona posted 77 yards on 15 carries with a career-best three touchdowns while Jordan Knight and Octovio Thomas also had a touchdown apiece. 
  • Julian Chung accumulated 131 yards in the air on five catches, two of which went for touchdowns, while Izaiah Sanders had seven catches for 117 yards.
  • Freshman quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky was 14-for-22 for 267 yards with two touchdown passes.
  • Defensively, senior captain Matthew Weiss was a mainstay in the Franklin Pierce backfield as he record two of the Owls' four sacks while also registering four addition QB hurries.
  • Weiss blocked a point-after attempt late in the game. Charles Ritchel and Anton Juncaj both tallied seven tackles each while Vance Upham had a sack and an interception. 
  • Kyle Armour also picked off a ball in the Owls' end zone to deny the Ravens of an early scoring opportunity.
NOTES
Offense
  • Southern is coming off back-to-back losses at Assumption and against Bentley over the last two weeks.
  • Freshman Diante Wilson currently ranks eighth in the conference in total rushing yards (318) at a 63.6 yard-per-game average. Wilson is also averaging 6.3 yards per carry, good for second in the NE10.
  • Izaiah Sanders leads the NE10 in catches (35) and ranks fifth in total yards (460) as well as sixth in yards-per-game (65.7).
  • Tylon Papallo has recorded 20 catches for 299 yards with three touchdowns.
  • The Owls are one of three teams, along with New Haven and Bentley, to feature two receivers with three touchdown receptions each.
Defense
  • Hasan Dominick and Robert Nunez are tied for the team lead in total tackles with 42.0 each, good for 11th in the NE10 standings.
  • Dominick's 27 solo tackles are the seventh-most in the NE10, while his team-leading three sacks rank tied for fifth with teammate Harrison Smith.
  • Nunez also has two sacks for the season.
  • Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre has recorded 35 tackles, including 24 solo takedowns, with four for a loss, a forced fumble, two interceptions and three breakups.
  • Elijah Alexandre ranks among the conference leaders with 20 solo tackles as well as five pass breakups.
Special Teams
  • Szymon Gawlick is tied with New Haven's Briant DeFelice with 39 total points for the year. Gawlick is 8-for-8 on extra-point attempts and 15-for-16 on field goal tries.
  • Freshman Jack Bachand leads the NE10 in punting yards (1,148) as well as punts inside the 20 yard line (8) and punts signaled for a fair catch (10).
  • Shawn Martin is second in the NE10 in total return yards (508) while his 22.1 yard average ranks fifth.
  • Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre ranks third in the NE10 with 90 punt returns for the year.
