Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Topped By AIC, 2-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team fell to American International College, 2-1. The Owls fell to 5-7-2 overall and 4-5-2 in the Northeast 10, while the Yellow Jackets improved 7-6-1 overall and 5-6-0 in the NE10.
 
How It Happened
  • Through the first 45 of play, the score remained deadlocked.
  • AIC broke through in the 54th minute on a goal from Rhiann Ryan.
  • Amanda Dustin (Marshfield, Mass.) scored the equalizer for Southern Connecticut in the 72nd minute.
  • With just under three minutes remaining, AIC's Gabby Williams connected with Jaidyn Matheu on what would eventually be the game-winning goal.
  • Allie Smith (Danbury, Conn.) recorded five saves in the loss. 
 
Notes
  • Victoria Vera recorded her first collegiate assist on Amanda Dustin's goal.
  • With Vera's assist, eight different Owls have recorded assists this season. Seven of those eight players are first-year players.
  • Dustin's goal was her first since Nov. 10, 2019 in the first round of the Northeast 10 Conference Tournament against Stonehill.
