SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas, 7-1. The Owls fell to 2-13 overall and 2-10 in the NE10, while the Spartans improved to 8-9 overall and 7-6 in the NE10.

How It Happened
- STAC struck first with 3:31 remaining in the first quarter as Hailey Galison tipped in a shot from Lauren Cooper on the left post off a penalty corner.Â
- The Spartans struck again early in the second quarter as Cooper poked a ball in on the right side off a shot from Nicola Van Vurren for their second goal of the game.
- Cooper picked up her third point of the game midway through the second quarter with a goal to increase the Spartans' lead. With a minute and a half remaining, STAC was awarded a penalty stroke as Galison connected for her second of the game.
- Two minutes into the third quarter, Southern's Abigail Koonankeil (Hamden, Conn.) picked up a loose ball rebound in front off a shot from Kaitlyn Bourque (Enfield, Conn.) and slotted it home to get the Owls on the board.
- STAC's Cooper recorded her third goal of the game early in the fourth quarter. The Spartans added another goal from Olivia Cerbo and then Cooper closed out the game scoring her fourth late in the quarter.
