ALL-TIME AGAINST STONEHILL
  • The Owls and Skyhawks have met 25 times, with Southern owning a 21-4 record in the all-time series.
  • Southern won the first 15 meetings between the two teams before Stonehill broke through in 2012.
  • After losing two of three games in 2012 and 2013, Southern won the next five meetings against the Skyhawks. Stonehill has won the last two games between the two teams, including a 54-21 decision in a non-conference matchup earlier this season. \
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
  • The Owls lost a non-conference matchup at Stonehill, 54-21, on Sept. 11, 2021.
·         Jackson Ostrowsky (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) was 25-for-31 for 271 yards with one touchdown pass. Ostrowsky also rushed for a touchdown in the game.
·         Tylon Pappalo had five receptions for 123 yards and a 56-yard touchdown while TJ Gardner accounted for the Owls' other score on a one-yard rush.
NOTES
  • The Owls are coming off an 18-16 loss at Pace last week. In that game, Tylon Papallo (Meriden, Conn.) led the Owls offense with 175 total yards on offensive. The first-year Owl's day was highlighted by a 47-yard touchdown run out of the Wildcat while also adding a 33-yard touchdown catch. He totaled 42 yards on three carries and 150 yards on five catches.
  • For the season, Papallo has totaled 666 total yards on offense, including 561 receiving and 105 rushing.
  • Papallo currently ranks sixth in the NE10 in receiving yards (561) and is one of four receivers in the conference to average 70-or-more (70.1) yards per game.
  • Papallo, and Stonehill's Domercant, are the only two receivers in the conference averaging 20 yards per reception, with Domercant at 21.4 and Papallo at 20.0.
  • Papallo has also recorded five touchdown catches.
  • Out of the Wildcat formation, Papallo has scored three more touchdowns while racking up 105 yards on 14 carries for a 7.5 yard per carry average.
  • The Owls' do-everything offensive weapon earned NE10 Offensive Player of the Week honors after becoming the first student-athlete in SCSU history to pass for a touchdown, catch a touchdown and rush for a touchdown in the same game.
  • Not surprising, after running for a touchdown and catching a touchdown against Pace last week, he is the first Owls' player to accomplish the feat in back-to-back games.
  • Papallo has now compiled 412 yards on offense with six touchdowns in his last three games.
  • Izaiah Sanders ranks fourth in the NE10 with 599 yards on 46 catches with five touchdowns.
  • Sanders is averaging 66.6 yards per game and 13.0 yards per reception.
  • Sanders and Papallo make the Owls the only team with two receivers with 550 yards or more in the NE10.
  • Sanders has posted three 100-yard receiving games this season, most recently against Franklin Pierce in which he posted career-highs in catches (9), yards (124) and tied his personal-best with two touchdowns.
  • Diante Wilson (Union, N.Y.) ran for 89 yards on 21 carries while Marc Reali (Biddeford, Me.) was 13-for-25 for 202 yards and a touchdown.
  • Wilson is one of six running backs in the NE10 averaging 65 yards or more per game.
  • The first-year Owl has compiled 462 yards on 86 carries for 5.4 yards per carry and one touchdown.
  • Szymon Gawlick's converted field goal attempt against Pace was his 10th of the season and made him the fourth Owls' kicker in program history, joining Dale Goodknight (11), Chris Hazelton & Charles Gallagher (10), to reach the century mark.
  • Gawlick missed his second attempt of the game, which would have tied Goodknight for the program's single-season record. It was also Gawlick's first missed field goal attempt of the season.
  • Freshman quarterback Marc Reali currently ranks eighth in the NE10 with 792 passing yards and is 66-for-113 (58.4%) for the year. Reali also has four touchdown passes, and just one interception, in three starts.
  • Shawn Martin had a pair of big kick-off returns for the Owls, including a season-best 60-yard kickoff return with one man to beat between him and the end zone. He also added a 30-yard return in the fourth quarter.
  • Martin's 28 kick-off returns are the third most in program history while his 658 total kickoff return yards is the second-most in program history, passing Kendall Thomas' 637 yards in 2016. John Moscatel holds the record with 820 return yards in 2013.
  • On defense against Pace, Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre (Hamden, Conn.) led the Owls with eight tackles and also intercepted a pass on Pace's last play of the first half. He also broke-up a Hail Mary bid by the Setters.
  • With Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre's second-quarter interception, the Owls have now picked off a pass in five-straight games and have totaled 11 for the year. It's the most in a season for the Owls' defense since 2017.
  • For the season, Delgado-McIntyre has tallied a career-best 49 tackles, including 39 solo takedowns, with six tackles for loss, one forced fumble and three interceptions, as well as five pass break-ups.
  • Against Pace Cameron Kelly (Norwalk, Conn.) had a team-leading two sacks in the game, while Harrison Smith (Rochester, Mass.) and Sidney Jones (Hartford, Conn.) also had sacks.
  • For the year, Harrison Smith ranks ninth in the NE10 with four sacks, with a total of 6.5 tackles for loss and 19 total tackles for the season.
  • Robet Nunez (Meriden, Conn.) leads the Owls with 54 tackles including two sacks.
  • Hasan Dominick is close-behind with 52 with three tackles for the year, as well as three sacks.
  • Mitch McDunnah (Columbia, Conn.) matched Delgado-McIntyre's tackle total with eight of his own.
