NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut women's basketball team defeated Holy Family University, 68-52, at Moore Field House. The Owls improved to 3-2 overall, while the Tigers moved to 5-3 overall.

Jessica Fressle (Levittown, N.Y.) led all players with 18 points and 18 rebounds and chipped in four assists, four steals, and a block. Senior
Delaney Connors (West Hartford, Conn.) had 14 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Graduate student
Patricia Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.) shot four-for-10 from three-point range and collected 12 points, five steals, five rebounds, and three assists. Senior
Zoë Amalbert shot 45.5-percent from the field for 12 points and had three assists and two steals en route to the Owls victory.

How It Happened
- Both squads started out trading baskets. Midway through the quarter, the Owls took a four-point lead on two back-to-back Conroy three-pointers. Holy Family responded with an 8-0 run of its own to regain the lead. Despite Katie Williamson (Dublin, Ireland) cutting the deficit to two, Holy Family countered with a three with eight seconds remaining in the quarter to put their lead to five.
- The Tigers came out of the gates in the second quarter with two layups that expanded their lead to nine. After Southern called timeout, the Owls exploded for an 11-0 run, which gave them the lead once again. Holy Family picked up three quick points, but the Owls outscored them 11-2 the rest of the way and went into halftime up by eight.
- Southern's red hot play continued in the second half. Fressle made two free throws midway through and gave the Owls their first double-digit lead up until that point. Holy Family attempted to battle back, coming within six points of the Owls lead, but Southern responded with an 8-2 run to regain its double-digit lead. The Owls finished the quarter with a 15-point lead.
- In the final frame, the Owls led by as many as 21 points, ignited by Fressle and Amalbert, who combined for 14 of the Owls 17 fourth-quarter points. Southern Connecticut's second-quarter surge following a time out proved to be effective as the Owls 16-point victory over Holy Family to kick off the home stand.
