NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team swept Le Moyne, 4-3 and 8-4, in Northeast 10 Conference play at Pelz Field. The Owls improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the NE10, while the Dolphins fall to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in the NE10.

Jacqueline Dumont (Nashua, N.H.) went 4-for-7 including a game one home run and a game two double with five RBI. Graduate
Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) batted .400 with four stolen bases, three runs and one RBI through two games.

Jayden Delaporta (Mystic, Conn.) went 2-for-4 in game two with a triple, three RBI and one run scored. Sophomore
Morgan Tuscano (Wallingford, Conn.) went 3-for-4 in game two with a double and one run scored.

Jazmyn Martinez (Middletown, N.Y.) collected her third win of the season in game one with five strikeouts. Sophomore
Jessica Perucki (West Milford, N.J.) collected her first collegiate save in game one, coming in relief for Martinez. She followed that with a game two victory.

Game 1: Southern Connecticut 4, Le Moyne 3
- SCSU started off the scoring with two quick first inning runs. Buscetto scored on a sacrifice fly and Cailey Botteon (Moodus, Conn.) scored ona groundout to the shortstop.
- Buscetto kicked off the third inning with a single up the middle followed by her 11th stolen base of the year. DeRosa stepped up and blasted a RBI double to right center field, scoring Buscetto from second and giving the Owls a two-run lead. Dumont followed up DeRosa's double with a two-run home run down the left field line.
- Le Moyne grabbed three quick runs in the sixth, but it wasn't enough as SCSU was able to hold them off and went on to win 5-3.

Game 2: Southern Connecticut 8, Le Moyne 4
- The Owls collected a run in each of the first three innings. Dumont kicked off the Owls offense in the first inning with a RBI single. Lange scored on the tag after a sacrifice fly was hit to right field. DeRosa scored on a fielder's choice in the third inning to keep the Owls on top 3-0.
- Le Moyne picked up a run in the fourth after Kaycee Hawk scored on an error.
- Southern came out hot in the fourth inning off the bats of Dumont and Jayden Delaporta (Mystic, Conn.). First, Dumont knocked a two RBI double down the left field line. Then, Delaporta ripped a two RBI triple that saw her eventually score on an overthrow at third.
- The Dolphins attempted a comeback in the fifth inning after Kaily LaForce collected a RBI double and Jillian Dunn hit a RBI single and eventually scoring on a groundout.
- Le Moyne's late game push wasn't enough as first year Gorham dazzled in the circle in the final two innings to secure an Owls win, 8-4.

Quick Notes
- With four stolen bases against Le Moyne, Sara Buscetto surpassed Megan Caporossi (51) and moved into sole possession of second place all-time in SCSU history in career stolen bases with 56 behind Brittany Bucko (64). She now leads the NE10 in stolen bases with 11 through the first six games of the season.
- The Owls have scored 37 runs through six games this season. It is the most they have scored through the first six games since 2012 when they scored 44. The 2012 Owls' squad went 43-13 and were Super Regional Champions in the College World Series.
- Jessica Perucki notched her first collegiate save along with her second win of the season.
- Emma Gorham made her collegiate debut in relief for Rachel Miller in game two.
