NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball split a doubleheader with Franklin Pierce University, 1-0 and 6-1 at Pelz Field. The Owls move to 6-2 overall, while the Ravens move to 4-2.

Jazmyn Martinez (Middletown, N.Y.) collected her fourth win of the season in game one, pitching a shutout and striking out nine batters in 25 batters faced. Junior
Jacqueline Dumont (Nashua, N.H.) led the Owls in game one going, 2-for-3 including a double with one RBI. Graduate student
Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) led the Owls in game two, going 2-for-3 with a walk and one stolen base. First year player
Angela Barresi (Windsor, Conn.) went 1-for-2 with a RBI and a walk in game two.Â

Game 1: Southern Connecticut 1, Franklin Pierce 0
- The only run of the game came off the bat of Dumont, who blasted a deep shot to right field in the second inning to score DeRosa.
- Martinez was solid in the circle for the Owls with her third complete game of the season.Â

Game 2
- Franklin Pierce's Madi Killbrew got the Ravens on the board in the first hitting, an RBI double down the right field line.
- Pierce's Gina Hinkley stepped to the plate in the third inning and hit a grand slam to right center field, putting the Ravens up by five.
- Barresi knocked a RBI single up the middle to get Southern Connecticut on the board in the seventh inning.
- The Ravens solid pitching was too much for the Owls as they went on to win 6-1.

- Jazmyn Martinez tied her game-high in strikeouts with nine on the day. Her career-high first came on March 11, 2019 against Bemidji State.
- Sara Buscetto collected her 12th stolen base of the season and continues to lead the NE10 in steals. Buscetto now has 57 career stolen bases, second all-time in SCSU history and seven stolen bases shy of tying Brittany Bucko (64), who currently sits first all-time.
