NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team fell to Adelphi University, 2-1 and 3-0, at Pelz Field. The Owls move to 6-4 overall and 3-3 in the NE10, while the Panthers move to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the NE10.
Junior
Jacqueline Dumont (Nashua, N.H.) led the Owls in game one, going 2-for-3 with one RBI, while fellow junior
Liz DeRosa (Hudson, N.H.) went 1-for-3 and scored Southern's only run. Senior
Jazmyn Martinez (Middletown, N.H.) pitched her fourth complete game of the season with eight strikeouts in 30 batters faced. She also chipped in a hit and a walk at the plate.
Sophomore
Jessica Perucki pitched her second complete game of the season, striking out a career-high eight in 28 batters faced. Senior
Jayden Delaporta (Mystic, Conn.) led the Owls in game two, going 2-for-2.

Game 1: Adelphi 2, Southern Connecticut 1
- Dumont opened the scoring for the Owls, doubling to left-center to bring DeRosa home, who doubled down the left field line herself in the at bat prior.
- Adelphi's Lauren O'Neill tied the game in the second inning, stealing third and then scoring on a throwing error.
- The Panthers scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning on an infield single.Â
- Adelphi's late game push and solid pitching were too much for the Owls as they went on to win it 2-1.

Game 2: Adelphi 3, Southern Connecticut 0
- Adelphi kicked off the second inning with Dani Roselli knocking in Hannah Pineda, who reached on an error the play before.
- Roselli was at it again in the third inning as she hit a RBI double deep to center, scoring Lauren O'Neill from second. Roselli eventually came around to score on a throwing error, giving the Panthers a three-run lead.
- The Panthers stingy pitching ultimately led them to capture the 3-0 win at Pelz Field.

- Sophomore Jessica Perucki broke her game-high strikeouts with eight in game two. Her previous game-high came against Le Moyne on March 21, where she had seven.
- Junior Liz DeRosa notched her conference-leading sixth double of the season in game one.
