NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team snapped New Haven's 13-game winning streak, splitting a pair of games with a 5-1 win and a 2-1 loss on Senior Day. The Owls move to 13-9 overall and 10-8 in the Northeast 10, while the Chargers move to 19-5 overall and 14-4 in the NE10.

- Jessica Perucki (West Milford, N.J.) earned the win in the circle after pitching a complete game with six strikeouts.

Game 1: New Haven 2, Southern Connecticut 1
- SCSU jumped on the board in the first inning when Botteon scored on a throwing error.
- New Haven scored the equalizer in the third inning on an error. The Chargers picked up another run later that inning on an error.
- The second half of game one saw solid defensive play from both teams as the Chargers two-run third inning proved to be the difference-maker.
Game 2: Southern Connecticut 5, New Haven 1
- The Owls scored the first run again in game two when Buscetto reached home on a groundout. Botteon scored on the next play on a Delaporta single to the shortstop. Emily Lange (Monroe, Conn.) hit a hard shot up the middle to bring home Jacqueline Dumont (Nashua, N.H.) to put SCSU up by three early.
- It wasn't until the fifth inning that the Chargers got on the board when Hailey Laforte scored on an error.
- Southern Connecticut responded in the bottom half of the inning when Botteon scored on another Delaporta single.
- Tuscano blasted a deep shot to left field in the sixth inning to give the Owls a four-run edge over the Chargers.
- A solid offensive performance for the Owls coupled with strong pitching from Perucki was the difference as SCSU went on to capture the victory.
Game Notes
- Sara Buscetto collected her 21st stolen base of the season and is now five stolen bases shy of breaking her own single-season stolen bases record set in 2019. This stolen base was also the 66th of her career, which extended her school record.
- SCSU snapped New Haven's 13-game winning streak that dates back to April 5.
- Prior to the Owls game two victory, they hadn't beaten the Chargers since April 10, 2018, a 3-0 game one victory.
- New Haven's Ava Fitzmaurice hadn't allowed any runs in her last five appearances until Southern Connecticut notched three runs against her over in both matchups.
- With today's 5-1 victory, Jessica Perucki has won five straight games in the circle. The last Owl pitcher to win five-straight games was Yesenia Evaristo who won six-straight from April 19, 2014 to April 26, 2014.
