ALBANY, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University softball team split a pair of games with the College of Saint Rose, a 6-5 win and a 2-1 loss. The Owls move to 14-12 overall and 11-11 in the Northeast 10, while the Golden Knights move to 4-18 overall and 4-18 in the NE10.
Game 1 Highlights
- Sara Buscetto (Waterford, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one stolen base.
- Cailey Botteon (Moodus, Conn.) went 1-for-2 including a walk, two stolen bases and one run scored.
- Morgan Tuscano (Wallingford, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
- Emily Lange (Monroe, Conn.) went 2-for-3 with one run scored.
- Jazmyn Martinez (Middletown, N.Y.) pitched five innings with seven strikeouts.
- Jessica Perucki (West Milford, N.J.) earned the save in relief.
Game 2 Highlights
Game 1: Southern Connecticut 6, Saint Rose 5
- Saint Rose struck first scoring two runs off two hits in the first inning.
- The Owls got things going in the third inning. Buscetto picked up a single and Botteon earned a walk before Dumont blasted a single to right field scoring both runners and tying the game.
- The fourth inning saw the Golden Knights score the go-ahead run off a single.
- It was Buscetto again for the Owls in the fifth inning earning herself a base running opportunity with a single. Botteon took her opportunity at the plate, singling and moving over Buscetto, who stole during Botteon's at bat, to third. In a heads up play, Buscetto squeaked past the catcher tying the game. Botteon scored later off a wild pitch for the go-ahead run for Southern.
- With two on base, Morgan Tuscano (Wallingford, Conn.) hit a massive two RBI double giving the Owls a three-run lead.
- The Golden Knights scored two runs on an error in the sixth inning coming within one run of the Owls.Â
- Perucki entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning in relief and warded off the Golden Knights with back-to-back strikeouts helping the Owls edge the Golden Knights in game one.
Game 2: Saint Rose 2, Southern Connecticut 1
- It was the Owls who struck first in game two with Perucki doubling bringing home Botteon.
- Saint Rose tied the game in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly.
- The Golden Knights scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run in the sixth inning off a RBI double.Â

Notes
- Sara Buscetto collected her 22nd stolen base of the season and is now four stolen bases shy of breaking her own single-season stolen bases record set in 2019. This stolen base was also the 67th of her career, which extended her school record.
