NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team lost to Dominican College, 2-1, at Jess Dow Field on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The Owls fall to 0-2-1 overall, while the Chargers improve to 1-2-0.
Matthew Jaansalu (Kingston, Ontario) scored his first career goal during the game, an equalizer in the 69th minute to knot the score at one.
Juan Avila (Clinton, Conn.) set up the goal off a corner kick and recorded the assist.
Bailey Bassett (Andover, Conn.) recorded two saves during the game.

- Jaansalu's goal was the first of the season for Southern.
- Avila's assist was the second of his career, and the first since Sept. 17, 2019.
- Avila also recorded his eighth career point of his career.
- Southern took 10 shots, with six of their shots being on goal.
