NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime with Assumption University. With the draw, the Owls move to 1-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the Northeast 10, while the Greyhounds move to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the NE10.
How It Happened
- Assumption broke the deadlock in the 54th minute of the second half on a goal from Diana Bruggeman.
- Julia Alicea (Columbia, Conn.) scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute.
- Kaitlyn D'Amico (Middletown, Conn.) had two opportunities in the winding minutes of the first overtime period, but Assumption's Julia Walsh came up with timely saves to keep the score even.
- The Greyhounds elevated their offense in the second overtime period and forced Allie Smith (Danbury, Conn.) to come up with two solid saves.
- Both teams traded their chances in extra time as they played to their 1-1 draw.
Notes
- Allie Smith recorded seven saves against Assumption. This was her second-straight seven save game this season.
- Julia Alicea recorded a season-high four shots, two of which were on goal against Assumption.
- Kaitlyn D'Amico recorded three shots, two of which were on goal against Assumption.
- Mia Mulin collected a season-high three shots against Assumption.
