Southern Connecticut State University will host American International on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021 at Jess Dow Field at 7 p.m. The Owls enter the game with a record of 2-2 overall and 1-1 in Northeast 10 Conference play while AIC is 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference games.

SCSU ATHLETICS SPECTATOR POLICY
In compliance with the University policy, all individuals - regardless of vaccination status - must wear a mask when attending Friday's game at Jess Dow Field anytime fans are not sitting in their seat or unable to social distance.  

Spectators will be asked to practice social distancing whenever possible whether indoors or outdoors. There will not be restrictions on fan attendance, specifically related to capacity, but fans are asked to remain in small, communal groups and maintain social distance from other groups while in the stands whenever possible.   
  
SCSU continues to encourage fans and spectators to follow the guidance of public health officials, including social distancing and increased hand hygiene. Spectators will not be permitted near team benches or sidelines and may not interact with student-athletes before, during, or after the conclusion of the event on the playing fields/courts. Per University policy, the wearing of face masks is required in all campus buildings and at outside locations where social distancing is not possible.  

THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
Southern is coming off a 38-9 loss at New Haven on Saturday, Sept. 25. Southern was led by Szymon Gawlick's three field goals.

ALL-TIME AGAINST AIC
• Southern Connecticut and AIC have met 64 times, with the Owls winning 34 of them and three ending in ties.
• The Owls have won the last two meetings between the two teams at Jess Dow Field, winning 48-21 in 2018 and 21-20 in 2016. 
 
NOTES
  • Szymon Gawlick was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts against New Haven, converting from 34, 43 and 24 yards in the Owls' loss.
  • Gawlick's 43-yard field goal is Southern's longest since Jeffrey Groth's 43-yarder against LIU Post on Nov. 1, 2014.
  • Ryan Soules' totaled four catches and 79 yards, both career highs, against New Haven.
  • Izaiah Sanders finished with six catches for 77 yards against the Chargers. Through four games, Sanders now has a team-leading 21 receptions for 301 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Diante Wilson, in his first career start after getting the nod against New Haven, posted season-highs in carries (12) and yards (75) for a 6.3 per carry average. Wilson also had a 23-yard run in the game. 
  • Ezequiel Johnson also had six carries for 35 yards, including a 14-yard run, for a 5.8 yard per carry average.
WHERE THEY RANK
  • Izaiah Sanders' 21 receptions led all Northeast 10 Conference receivers to date while his 5.3 receptions per game rank third.
  • Sanders (301) is one of six NE10 receivers with 300 receiving yards to date while his three receiving touchdowns are the third-most in the conference.
  • Szymon Gawlick currently lead the NE10 in field goals made (5), field goal percentage (100%) and is the only kicker in the conference to convert on all of his field goal and point-after attempts (11-11) to date.
  • Gawlick's 26 points for the year lead all NE10 kickers and ranks sixth among all NE10 scorers.
  • Shawn Martin leds the NE10 with 17 kick-off returns and ranks second in total yardage (377). His 125.7 all-purpose yards per game ranks eighth in the NE10.
  • Hasan Dominick's 29 tackles to date ranks as the 10th most in the NE10 while his 7.3 tacklers per game ranks 12th.
  • Dominick also ranks seventh in the conference with two sacks.
UP NEXT
After the Owls tilt against AIC, Southern will face Assumption in Worcester, Mass. on Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. The Owls' next home date will be Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 16 against Bentley.
