The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team will host University of Bridgeport for their home opener on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. It will be the Owls' first home game since Nov. 6, 2019, a 4-3 victory over Le Moyne.

Spectator Policy
Spectators are requested, but are not required, to wear masks at outdoor sporting events at Jess Dow Field, Pelz Field or The Ballpark at SCSU.
Spectators are also asked to practice social distancing whenever possible whether indoors or outdoors, though there will not be restrictions on attendance.
SCSU continues to encourage fans and spectators to follow the guidance of public health officials, including social distancing and increased hand hygiene. Spectators will not be permitted near team benches or sidelines and may not interact with student-athletes before, during, or after the conclusion of the event on the playing fields/courts. Per University policy, the wearing of face masks is required in all campus buildings and at outside locations where social distancing is not possible.
University and athletics department officials will continue to monitor any changes to public health guidelines and adjust accordingly.

The Last Time They Met:
The Owls and Purple Knights last faced off on Oct. 16, 2019, a 5-1 victory for Bridgeport at Knights Field. Ben Pierce (Meriden, Conn.) scored his first career goal during the second half.
Last Time Out
Southern opened up the 2021 season on the road against Mercy College. The Mavericks won 2-0, while Bailey Bassett (Andover, Conn.) recorded 6 saves during the game.
Returning Players
The Owls welcome back Juan Avila (Clinton, Conn.), Bailey Bassett (Andover, Conn.), Jhan Carlos Bermeo (Clinton, Conn.), Alessio Caradolfo (Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, Italy), Khaleed Dawkins (Shelton, Conn.), Johnny Foster (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), Jalun Hassell (Southampton, Bermuda), Hideki Morales (Bethel, Conn.), Ben Pierce (Meriden, Conn.), Aren Seeger (Naugatuck, Conn.), and Matt Surette (Bowie, Md.). from the 2019 season season.
Avila scored two goals in 2019, while Pierce and Surette scored one apiece. Avila started in 13 of his 15 appearances and in 19 of his 27 games he has appeared in during his career. Seeger led the team with 27 saves as the goalkeeper, while Carvalho had 23 saves.
Southern also brings back Juan Alava (Guayaquil, Ecuador), Leroy Best (Bielefeld, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany), Zachary Tuccitto (Clinton, Conn.), and Edgar Valencia (Bridgeport, Conn.) from their 2020 roster, but will play in their first collegiate seasons at Southern in 2021.

Lennox Strelow (Bremen, Germany), and Santiago Slapak (Manuel Alberti, Buenos Aires, Argentina) for the 2021 season.
