The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team returns to James Moore Field House on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, as they host Franklin Pierce at 7:30 p.m. The Ravens are currently ranked fourth in the D2SIDA Men's Basketball East Region Media Poll.

SCSU Spectator Policy 

• In working towards the goal of ensuring a normal competition schedule for its student-athletes, SCSU Athletics has decided to prohibit spectators from attending events at the James Moore Field House and Hutchinson Natatorium until further notice.
• University and athletic department officials will continue to monitor any changes to public health guidelines and adjust accordingly.

Last Time Out
Southern fell to Adelphi, 83-71, on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at the Center for Recreation and Sport. Zack Penn scored a team-high 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass.) had 14 points and seven assists. Alex Lin (Hillsdale, N.J.) had 12 points and Aaron Russell (Bowie, Md.) had 11 points. Elmin Redzepagic (Wolcott, Conn.) had a breakout-game in his first career start, as he grabbed 13 rebounds and scored eight points on 3-of-6 shooting. 

All-Time Against Franklin Pierce: 20-28 
Last Time They Met: Southern defeated Franklin Pierce, 75-66, in Rindge, N.H. on Jan. 22, 2020. Greg Jones recorded a double-double with game-highs in points, with 25, and rebounds, with 15. Isaiah Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) also registered a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Khalil Richard scored 15 points. Bennett scored eight points, pulled down 11 rebounds, and had eight assists. 

Southern has won nine consecutive games at Moore Field House against Franklin Pierce, with the Ravens' last win at Southern coming on Jan. 14, 2006 in overtime. Over their last 11 games, Southern is 8-3 against Franklin Pierce dating back to the 2010-2011 season.

Northeast 10 Weekly Honors
Week 7:

• Penn was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll he recorded a team-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while also grabbing nine rebounds against Adelphi. His point total and field goals made were also new career-highs for a single game.

Week 6: 

• Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performance against Holy Family. He recorded his second double-double of the season and third of his career with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bennett also dished out six assists while shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Week 5:

• Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performances against Saint Rose and Lincoln. Bennett averaged 12 points, nine assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game. 

Week 2:

• Coleman was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll after he scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 3-of-6 from three-point range on the road against Jefferson. He also recorded a career-high five steals to go along with three rebounds

Week 1

• Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performances at the Bridgeport Tournament. Bennett averaged 16 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game while going 11-for-17 from the field and 4-for-9 from three-point range. 

NE10 Ranks

• Bennett is third in assists per game at 6.0 and third in steals per game at 2.0.
• Zack Penn (New Hartford, Conn.) is fifth in rebounds per game at 7.9.
• Jamaal Waters (Hartford, Conn.) is fourth in blocks per game at 1.4, while Penn is fifth at 1.3.
• Lin is third in the three-point percentage at 47.4 percent. 
• Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.) is 10th in free throw percentage at 80.8 percent, and has made 14 of his last 15 attempts.
