PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -Â Â The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team fell to Pace, 95-77, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at the Ann and Alfred Goldstein Health, Fitness & Recreation Center. With the loss, the Owls fall to 4-10 overall and 2-7 in the NE10, while the Setters improve to 11-7 overall and 7-4 in the NE10.
C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting and made four of his seven three-point attempts.
Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass.) also added 20 points, and shot 6-of-13 from the field.
Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.)Â grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.Â
Zack Penn (New Hartford, Conn.)Â and
 Isaiah Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) both scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.Â
How It Happened
First Half
- Pace started off the game with a 9-4 lead. Southern went on an 11-4 run to take a 15-13 lead, with Bennett scoring nine of the Owls 11 points during the run and 11 of Southern's first 15 points for the game.Â
- The Setters immediately went on an 11-0 run to take a 24-15 lead with just under 10 minutes remaining.Â
- Seaforth restarted Southern's offense, as the Owls went on a 13-4 run to tie the game at 28 with 4:31 left in the half. Seaforth scored 10 points during the four-and-a-half minute stretch, and made two three-pointers during the run.Â
- Pace scored six straight points to retake the lead, but Southern cut the lead back down to one after a three-pointer by Boissard and a three-pointer and layup by Seaforth. Seaforth scored 11 points in a span of six minutes, but Pace took a 41-38 into halftime.Â
- Seaforth shot 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc on his way to 13Â points, while Bennett was 4-for-5 overall and also scored 13 points.Â
Second Half
- Southern was able to tie the game at 45 to begin the second half, and trailed 51-49 after Boissard made a layup with 13:48 remaining. Pace then went on an 11-2Â run to take a 62-51Â lead with 12:17Â left in the second half.
- After two free throws by Bennett, Pace went on a 19-8Â run to extend their lead to 81-61. Southern outscored Pace, 16-14, to end the game, but Pace sealed a 95-77 win.Â
Notes
- Seaforth scored a season-high 23 points, and equaled a Southern game-high for points in a game this season. It's the third consecutive game a Southern player has scored 23 points, as Bennett did so against Stonehill on Jan. 22 and Logan Bagshaw (Cumberland, Maine) did so against Assumption on Jan. 27.Â
- This was Seaforth's 13th game with at least 20 points in his Southern career.Â
- Bennett recorded his seventh career 20-point game, and his second in the last three games.Â
