NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Bentley University, 80-70, at Moore Field House. With the loss, the Owls fell to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the Northeast 10, while Bentley improved to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the NE10.
Senior Zoë Amalbert (Nanuet, N.Y) led all Owls with 24 points on 66-percent shooting, and chipped seven assists, four boards and two steals. Senior Delaney Connors (West Hartford, Conn.) shot 60-percent from three-point range and 50-percent from the field en route to 13 points. Connors also recorded four rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Graduate student Jessica Fressle (Levittown, N.Y.) recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

How It Happened
- Bentley started the first three minutes of play on a 9-2 run. After the Owls grabbed a bucket, Bentley responded with 14-9 run that gave them a 10-point lead. The last minute and a half saw both sides trade baskets, but the Falcons finished the first frame up by nine.
- The Falcons continued to control the game in the second quarter, kicking it off on an 11-0 run and led by 20 points. Southern responded with a 12-1 run to cut Bentley's lead to nine. The second quarter finished much like the first with Bentley and Southern trading shots on both ends of the floor. Bentley went into halftime with a seven-point edge over Southern.
- Southern began to find their rhythm in the third quarter with a 13-6 run over a six-minute span that helped them tie the game. The final four minutes of play was tight with Bentley narrowly outscoring Southern, 9-5, which gave them a seven-point lead heading into the final quarter.
- The final ten minutes of action started fairly even in scoring on both sides. Fressle grabbed five points in the first three minutes along with an Amalbert three-pointer to come within four points of Bentley's lead. The Falcons responded with three unanswered baskets that helped expand their lead back to double-digits. Southern cut Bentley's lead into single-digits twice more in the quarter, but the Falcons grabbed eight points on free throws in the final minute of play leading them to a 10-point victory on the road.

- Zoë Amalbert topped a career-high in points with 24 against Bentley. Her previous career-high of 19 points was set on Nov. 13, 2021 against Georgian Court.
- Amalbert's 67-percent shooting from the field and 71-percent shooting from three-point range was a season-high.
