NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut field hockey lost to Southern New Hampshire University, 2-1, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Jess Dow Field. With the loss, Southern dropped to 4-11 overall and 3-8 in the NE10 while Southern New Hampshire improved to 6-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
Southern New Hampshire tallied a goal three minutes into the second period with a shot from Brianna Frisbee. However, the Owls responded nearly 20 minutes later to tie the game in the middle of the third period. Trinidad Rodriguez-Ricchiuti notched her 7th goal of the season after collecting the ball at midfield, driving forward to beat three defenders, and shooting a ball high over the goalkeepers reach.
The score held until the end of regulation. Only six minutes into OT, the Penmen sealed the deal with a golden goal following a successful goal conversion by Bernardita Diaz de Vivar off a corner.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2 when they travel to Pleasantville, N.Y. to face Pace University at 4:00 p.m.
