SCSU Field Hockey Downed By Pace, 7-2

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut field hockey lost to Pace, 7-2, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup at Finnerty Field in Pleasantville, N.Y. With the loss, Southern dropped to 4-12 overall and 3-9 in the NE10 while Pace improved to 8-7 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

Trinidad Rodriguez Ricchiuti (Buenos Aires, Argentina) scored both of the Owls' goals after accounting for half of Southern's shots on goal. In goal, Kaitlyn Parent (Glastonbury, Conn.) had four saves. Rodriguez Ricchiuti now has nine goals on the year, the most for the Owls since Colleen Murphy scored eight in 2015. Her nine goals are also tied for third in the NE10.

Pace scored twice in the first quarter as Tavia Flecksteiner scored on a pass by Isabella Boertjes before Jessica Wolfe scored from Noelle Meij and Krista Deitz off a corner. Coming out of the break, Rodriguez Ricchiuti cut Pace's lead in half less than two minutes into the second quarter. After Meij scored on a pass from Wolfe to push Pace's lead back to two goals, Rodriguez Ricchuiti converted again on the blast from the right side of the goal to send the Owls to the half trailing 3-2.

Pace scored twice in the third quarter as Dietz and Meij both found the back of the cage before Dietz scored twice in the final 15 minutes to push the Setters' lead to five goals, 7-2.

Southern is back in action on Monday, Nov. 7 when it hosts Molloy at Jess Dow Field at 7 p.m. for its final home game of the regular season.
