SCSU Football Drops Season Finale To New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut football lost its season finale to New Haven, 54-14. With the loss, the Chargers retain the Elm City Trophy and improve to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the Northeast 10 while Southern Connecticut's season ends with a final record of 3-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

Owls defensive stand-out Hasan Dominick (Jersey City, N.J.) had a season-high 13 tackles in the game to put an exclamation point on an incredible season. Dominick finished the year with a team-leading 86 tackles, with 43 solo and 43 assists, including nine tackles for a loss. Robert Nunez (Middletown, N.Y.) totaled seven tackles while Joe DiGello (Orange, Cnn.) had six tackles and a quarterback hurry.

Dominick completes his senior year with 187 career tackles with six sacks. His 86 tackles this season are the most at Southern since Michael Cerisano had 88 in 2016, and he's the first Owls' player to lead the team in tackles in consecutive seasons since Cerisano did it 2016 and 2017.

On offense, Marc Reali (Biddeford, Me.) was 13-for-24 for 171 yards and two touchdown passes, including a 52-yard score to Jevon Jones (Syracuse, N.Y.). The touchdown was Jones' second of the season while his four catches and 108 yards were season-highs. Reali also connected with Tarik Hetmyer (New Britain, Conn.) on an 18-yard touchdown for Hetmyer's first career touchdown.
