SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Pace, 125-100

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's swimming and diving defeated Pace, 125-100, in a dual meet at Southern's Bruce Hutchinson Natatorium. The Owls won nine events, before swimming the final three as exhibitions after clinching the win.

200 Yard Medley Relay
The 200 Medley Relay team comprised of Ella Marzec, Lindsay McCawley, Hailey Nyquist and Kali Dominguez got the Owls on the board with a win in the first event of the afternoon. The "A" relay team posted a time of 1:56.02. They edged the "B" team of Hannah Nyquist, Maddie Dean, Olivia Strelevitz and Justice Glasgow, who finished second at 1:57.76.

1,000 Yard Freestyle
Faith Littleton took the top spot in the 1,000 Free with a time of 11:04.10, followed by Brooke Keeney in second place at 11:11.27. Both Littleton and Keeney's times rank in the top 10 among all NE10 swimmers to date, with Littleton's ranking fourth and Keeney's ranked eighth.

200 Yard Freestyle
The Owls kept rolling as they grabbed the top three spots in the 200 Free, led by freshman Paola Castillo and Jasmine Urrichio while Anya Celmer finished third. Castillo turned in a time of 1:57.96 while Urrichio was second at 2:01.30 followed by Celmer at 2:02.62. Castillo's time was the second-fastest of the season in the NE10.

50 Yard Freestyle
It was another sweep of the top three spots in the 50 Free as Emily Darroch touched at 26.01 for first place, followed by Olivia Strelevitz in second at 26.07 and Ella Marzec in third at 26.11.

200 Yard Individual Medley
Pace finally broke through in the 200 IM, taking the top spot for their first event win. Lindsay McCawley was second with a time of 2:19.00 followed by Hailey Nyquist at 2:20.45, Abbey Piech at 2:23.04 and Gracie Marsh at 2:30.36. McCawley's time was the 14^th fastest of the season in the NE10.

1 Meter Diving
Nicholle Denault finished second in the 1 Meter Diving event with a score of 209.60.

200 Yard Butterfly
Southern dominated the 200 Fly as Justice Glasgow grabbed first place with a time of 2:20.44 followed by Ella Marzec in second at 2:22.58. Lindsay McCawley finished third at 2:23.90 while Hannah Nyquist followed at 2:24.75. Glasgow's time ranked 11^th in the NE10 this season.

100 Yard Freestyle
Arianna Arturi won the 100 Free by two seconds, posting a time of 55.18. Hailey Nyquist finished third at 57.24 followed by Brooke Keeney at 57.38. Arturi's time against Pace was the seventh-fastest of the season in the NE10.

500 Yard Freestyle
Swimming exhibition, Faith Littleton posted the top time in the event at 5:16.63, while Anya Celmer's 5:29.96 and Natalie Weier's 5:33.96 would have been good for third and fourth. Littleton's time ranks fourth in the NE10.

3 Meter Diving
Nicholle Denault finished second in the 3 Meter Diving event with a score of 196.25.

200 Yard Backstroke
Olivia Strelevitz won the 200 Back with a time of 2:14.42 while Jasmine Uricchio finished third at 2:19.58. Strelevitz's time was the 10^th fastest of the seasn in the NE10.

400 Yard Freestyle Relay
The "A" relay team of Jasmine Uricchio, Anya Celmer, Emily Darroch and Arianna Arturi posted a time of 3:48.87.

200 Yard Breaststroke
Maddie Dean swam the top time of 2:33.99 in the event while Paola Castillo posted a time of 2:36.75, which was the third-fastest time. Dean's time was the sixth-fastest of the season in the NE10 while Castillo's was the 11^th.

Southern will break for the holidays and return to action on Friday, Jan. 13 when it hosts Adelphi at 4 p.m. at Hutchinson Natatorium.
