SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Le Moyne College, 59-49, at Ted Grant Court. With the loss, the Owls fell to 9-11 overall and 6-8 in the Northeast 10, while the Dolphins improved to 15-4 overall and 13-3 in the NE10.
Graduate student Jessica Fressle (Levittown, N.Y.) and senior Zoë Amalbert (Nanuet, N.Y.) paced the Owls with 13 points each. Fressle picked up six boards and two steals, while Amalbert notched four boards and three steals. First year Delaney Haines (Portland, Me.) and junior Alexa Kellner (Stamford, Conn.) recorded eight points each. Haines shot 75-percent from the field, while Kellner brought down six rebounds and had a block.

How It Happened
- Le Moyne jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Southern responded by outscoring the Dolphins, 10-6, finishing the first frame up by one.
- Second quarter action was neck and neck as both sides tugged at the lead. Le Moyne kicked off the quarter with two quick baskets to take the lead before Southern responded right back with two of their own to regain the lead, 17-16. The Dolphins countered with a 7-3 run to come back on top until the Owls offense battled with a 12-6 run, six of which came off the hands of Jessica Fressle, that gave them a three-point lead heading into the half, 32-29.
- Southern picked up where they left off with a 6-0 run to start the third quarter with a basket from Katie Williamson (Dublin, Ireland) and four points from Fressle. Le Moyne ignited for a 10-3 run that put them within two points of the Owls, 41-39. Both sides finished the frame with a pair of free throws each with the Owls still on top by two at the end of 30 minutes played.
- Down two to start the final quarter, the Dolphins' offense came out firing with a 10-0 run that gave them the lead, 51-43. Le Moyne's tight defense limited the Owls to just six points in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the difference maker as the Dolphins went on to capture the victory at home.Â
