The No. 6 seeded Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team will play No. 3 seeded Saint Anselm in Round One of the Northeast 10 Conference Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022 at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

Saint Anselm Spectator Policy 
  • Saint Anselm allow fans and spectators at its home events. Individuals who are unvaccinated, or not fully vaccinated, will be required to wear masks at all times. Fully vaccinated spectators are not required to wear a mask at outdoor competition venues.
  • Until further notice, all spectators (regardless of vaccination status) will be required to wear a mask at indoor venues such as Stoutenburgh Gymnasium and Sullivan Arena. 
Last Time Out:
Southern's game against Adelphi on Tuesday, Feb. 22 was canceled. Their previous game was played against Saint Anselm on Feb. 21, where the Hawks won  74-60. Isaiah Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) scored 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting and grabbed five rebounds, and C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) also added 10 points. Ulyen Coleman (Brockton, Mass.) scored eight points and pulled down eight rebounds, and Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass.) scored nine points. Aaron Russell (Bowie, Md.) came off the bench and recorded six points and three steals.

2019 Quarterfinals: Recap:
  • Southern Saint Anselm, 97-87 on March 3, 2019.  Southern has now won three-straight games and improved to 19-11 with the win. Seaforth shot 11-of-12 from the free throw line and scored 25 points, while Kealen Ives scored 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting and made four three-pointers. Joey Wallace scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Taurus Adams II also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
Milestone Watch
  • Seaforth scored his 1,000th career point on Feb. 19 against Saint Rose. He now has 1,014 for his career, with 968 points coming at Southern.
  • Coleman has 960 points for his career.
  • Head Coach Scott Burrell has won 98 games in his career.
  • Bennett has recorded at least 100 assists in back-to-back seasons to begin his collegiate career, and has scored 615 total points in his first two seasons. 

Northeast 10 Weekly Honors
Week 13: 
  • Coleman was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll after he averaged a double-double for the Owls at 17.7 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game against Saint Michael's, New Haven, and The College of Saint Rose.
Week 10:
  • Seaforth was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll after he averaged 16.5 points per game while shooting 52.2 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range in the two road games against Assumption and Pace.
Week 7:
  • Penn was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll he recorded a team-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while also grabbing nine rebounds against Adelphi. His point total and field goals made were also new career-highs for a single game.
Week 6: 
  • Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performance against Holy Family. He recorded his second double-double of the season and third of his career with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bennett also dished out six assists while shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Week 5:
  • Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performances against Saint Rose and Lincoln. Bennett averaged 12 points, nine assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game. 
Week 2:
  • Coleman was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll after he scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 3-of-6 from three-point range on the road against Jefferson. He also recorded a career-high five steals to go along with three rebounds
Week 1
  • Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performances at the Bridgeport Tournament. Bennett averaged 16 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game while going 11-for-17 from the field and 4-for-9 from three-point range. 

NE10 Ranks
  • Bennett is fifth in assists per game at 4.5.
  • Bennett is one of three players in the NE10 with at least 100 assists and 330 points scored this season (also Isaiah Moore of Franklin Pierce).
  • Penn is eighth in rebounds per game at 7.5. 
  • Waters is fourth in blocks per game at 1.3.

Up Next
With a win, Southern will play in the Quarterfinals of the NE10 Tournament against No. 2 Seeded New Haven at Charger Gymnasium. New Haven advanced via a "No Contested" due to "established institutional and conference COVID-19 health protocols."
