PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team lost to nationally-ranked No. 15 Pace, 17-6, in a Northeast 10 Conference game played in Pleasantville, N.Y. The Owls are now 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the NE10, while the Setters improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the NE10.
Bayleigh Takacs (Sparta, N.J.) scored two goals to lead the Owls, while
Alexa Alchimio (Wallingford, Conn.) recorded her first career goal during the second half.
Alexandra Ruel (Ivoryton, Conn.), Brianna Shaw (Branford, Conn.), and
Kelly Jagodzinski (Stamford, Conn.) all also scored for Southern and
Jordan Fisher (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) had her first career assist.
How It Happened
- Pace scored six straight goals to open the game. Ruel scored Southern's first goal of the game on a free-position shot with 8:00 remaining in the first quarter to get the Owls on the board.
- In the second quarter, Fisher made a nice pass to Takacs to score before the end of the half, but Pace took a 13-2 lead through the first two periods.
- Takacs scored her second goal of the game on a free position shot in the third quarter.
- Southern outscored Pace 3-1 in the final quarter, with Pace's only goal coming in the final seconds. Jagodzisnki got the run started by Southern with a goal with 10:37 remaining.
- Shaw then scored with 7:20 remaining, and Alchimio found the back of the net with 2:45 left in the game for her first career goal.

- Takacs and Shaw have both scored in every game so far this season.
- Takacs has scored at least two goals in all but one game this season.
- Takacs has now recorded at least one point in 20 consecutive games dating back to April 13, 2019, and has scored a goal in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.
- Jagozinski has scored in four of the Owls' five games this year.
