NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's track and field team received 37 All-Region honors, the most in all of Division II, in the East Region, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. Southern was one of three programs to have a combined 50 All-Region selections between their men's and women's programs, totaling 56 between the two, with Lee (Tenn.) having the most with 59 and Grand Valley State having 50. The Northeast 10 accumulated the most honors with 181.
Southern also had 10 student-athletes named as a top regional performer in 11 events;
Nigel Green in the 100 and 200 meter dash and 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay,
Eli Henry in the 400-meter run and 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay,
Sachin Manning in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay,
Turner Kelly in the shot put and hammer throw,
Christ N'Dabian and
Tariq Phillips in the 4x100-meter relay,
Ramsley Exantus in the 4x400-meter relay,
Jordan Davis in the javelin,
Milan Spisek in the pole vault, and
Jaylynn Cundiff in the long jump.
Bernardo Mbaya, Henry, Green, Exantus, Manning,
Terrell Patterson, and Kelly all received All-Region honors in multiple events; Mbaya in the shot put and discus, Henry in the 200-meter, 400-meter, 4x100-meter relay, and 4x400-meter relay, Green in the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, 4x100-meter relay, and 4x400-meter relay, Exantus in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay, Manning in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay, Patterson in the 800 and 1500-meter runs, and Kelly in the shot put, hammer, and discus.
