SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Falls To Marist Despite Strong Showing

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut women's swimming and diving lost to Marist, 177-118, in a meet in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Paola Castillo (San Diego, Calif.) won two events, and finished second in a third while Jasmine Uricchio (Enfield, Conn.), Maddie Dean (Lawrence, Ks.) and Hailey Nyquist (Staten Island, N.Y.) also won for the Owls.

200 Yard Medley Relay
Southern's 200 Yard Medley Relay team comprised of Hailey Nyquist, Maddie Dean, Justice Glasgow (Warren, Mich.) and Emily Darroch (Oxford, Conn.) finished third with a time of 1:56.06.

1650 Yard Freestyle
Freshman standout Jasmine Uricchio won the 1,650 Yard Freestyle convincingly, touching at 17:46.75, ahead of the second-place finisher at 18:24.91. Uricchio's time was the second-fastest this season in the Northeast 10. Gracie Marsh (Greenwood, Ind.) also picked up a point for the Owls with a time of 19:57.13.

200 Yard Freestyle
Freshman standout Paola Castillo took the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:59.20 to help the Owls jump out to an early lead. Castillo's time was the sixth-best in the NE10 this season.

50 Yard Backstroke
The Owls captured their third-straight event to open the meet when Hailey Nyquist won the 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of 28.70. Olivia Strelevitz (Gales Ferry, Conn.) was fourth with a time of 30.03.

50 Yard Breaststroke
Arianna Arturi (Mount Olive, N.J.) finished fourth in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 33.87. Lindsay McCawley (Horseheads, N.Y.) finished fifth at 35.09.

100 Yard Butterfly
Justice Glasgow finished third in the 100 Fly event with a time of 1:00.41, just :00.19 behind the second-place swimmer. Hannah Nyquist finished fourth at 1:03.21. Glasgow's time was the sixth-fastest in the NE10 this year.

50 Yard Freestyle
Kali Dominiguez (West Hartford, Conn.) came in second in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.81, trailing the leader who finished in 25.63.

3 Meter Diving
Nicholle Denault (West Hartford, Conn.) finished fourth in the 3 Meter Diving event with a score of 169.73.

100 Yard Freestyle
Emily Darroch was the Owls' top finisher in the 100 Free with a time of 57.02, followed by Dominguez at 57.14.

100 Yard Backstroke
Maddie Dean was second in the 100 Back with a time of 1:03.17, while Hannah Nyquist was fourth at 1:06.06.

100 Yard Breaststroke
Abbey Piech (Tinley Park, Ill.) was fourth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.12.

500 Yard Freestyle
Castillo picked up her second win of the meet when she grabbed first place in the 500 Free with a time of 5:16.59. Brooke Keeney was second at 5:25.46. Castillo's time was the sixth-best of the year in the conference.

50 Yard Butterfly
Glasgow finished second in the 50 Fly with a time of 27.49 while Hailey Nyquist was third at 27.66. Glasgow's time was the third-fastest of the year in the conference, while Nyquist ranks fourth.

1 Meter Diving
Denalt was third in the 1 Meter Diving with a score of 191.18.

200 Yard Individual Medley
Swimming exhibition as Marist had already captured the meet, Maddie Dean won the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:15.28 followed by Castillo at 2:17.42 and Uricchio at 2:20.41. Dean's time is the third-fastest of the season in the conference.

400 Yard Freestyle Relay
The Owls' "A" Relay team of Olivia Strelevitz, Brooke Keeney, Anya Celmer and Emily Darroch finished in 3:50.53.
