SCSU Women's Indoor T & F Wins Weekly Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Southern Connecticut women's indoor track and field took home a pair of Northeast 10 Conference Weekly Awards as Ella Maclean was named the Track Athlete of the Week, while Maclean, Anna-Sashia Jones, Izzy Newbury and Avery Winters earned Relay of the Week, as announced by the NE10 on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023. Rachel Fleischer was also named to the Honor Roll.

At the UMass Lowell River Hawk Invitational, Ella Maclean finished third in the 60 Meter Dash with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.64. She also finished sixth in the 60 Meters at the John Thomas Terrier Classic with a time of 7.74. She also finished eight in the 200 Meters at the Terrier Classic with a time of 24.19, which was also a NCAA provisional qualifying time. Maclean was the top Division II runner in each race. She was also part of the 4 x 400 Relay team that won the 17-team race with a time of 3:54.05. The Owls' time was a season-best and the second-fastest women's 4x400 time this season, to date.

At the River Hawk Invitational, The Owls' 4 x 400 Relay team of Ella Mclean, Izzy Newbury, Avery Winters and Anna-Sashia Jones won the 17-team race with a time of 3:54.05. The Owls' time was a season-best and the second-fastest women's 4x400 time this season, to date.

At the River Hawk Invitational, Rachel Fleischer won the 40-person Triple Jump event with a distance of 11.78m (38' 7 3/4"), which was a NCAA Division II provisional score.
