SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Competed At Fairfield Invitational

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's swimming & diving completed the Fairfield Invitational against Fairfield University and Central Connecticut State.

Hailey Nyquist was the Owls top finisher in the 200 Meter Butterfly and the 200 Meter Individual Medley while Paola Castillo was Southern's top finisher in the 800 Meter Freestyle and the 100 Meter Butterfly.

800 Meter Freestyle
Paola Castillo finished fifth in the 800 Free with a time of 9:49.04 while Gracie Marsh was sixth at 10:28.57.

200 Meter Freestyle
Jasmine Uricchio was sixth in the 200 Free with a time of 2:15.34 while Arianna Arturi finished ninth at 2:16.17.

100 Meter Backstroke
Abby Lyons and Brooke Keeney finished back-to-back in the 100 Back, with Lyons touching at 1:11.48 for eighth place while Keeney finished at 1:1167 for ninth place.

100 Meter Breaststroke
Emma St. Hilaire finished sixth in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:20.95 while Allyson Quitos was ninth at 1:22.66. Castillo (1:23.73) and Keeney (1:26.14) rounded out the scoring for the Owls in the event.

200 Meter Butterfly
Hailey Nyquist finished third in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:31.11.

50 Meter Freestyle
Molly Kennedy was seventh in the 50 Free with a time of 28.85 while Uricchio finished eighth at 29.06.

100 Meter Freestyle
Arturi led the Owls in the 100 Free with a time of 1:01.99 for fifth place, while Nyquist was eighth at 1:03.65 followed by Ella Marzec at 1:05.67.

400 Meter Freestyle
Keeney finished fifth overall in the 400 Free with a time of 4:46.14 while Kennedy was ninth at 5:00.18 and Natalie Weier was 10^th at 5:01.77.

100 Meter Butterfly
Castillo placed sixth in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:09.93 while Marzec was 10^th at 1:11.86.

200 Meter Individual Medley
Nyquist was the Owls top finisher in the 200 IM with a time of 2:36.57 while first-year Owl Quitos was ninth at 2:40.11.

400 Meter Freestyle Relay
The Owls 400 Free Relay team of Jasmine Uricchio, Arianna Arturi, Paola Castillo and Brooke Keeney finished third with a time of 4:13.89.

Southern is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 12 when it travels to Storrs, Conn. to take on UConn.
