NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut volleyball fell to NE10 opponent, Saint Anselm College, 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Pelz Gym. Southern finished the season with an overall record of 14-17 and an NE10 record of 2-9. Saint Anselm finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-10 and an NE10 record of 5-6.
The Owls took the first set over the Hawks, 25-16. However, Saint Anselm narrowly took the second set with a scoreline of 25-19. In the third and fourth sets, the Hawks got the victory with a score of 25-16 and 25-19.
First-year
Carissa Michel had her fourth double-double of the season with a team-best of 14 kills and 15 digs.
Sarah Stark and
Ahunna James both recorded seven kills against Saint Anselm.
Sara Enright had 13 digs while
Kaila Keovilaysane had 11 digs of her own. Enright had a team-best of three service aces and two blocks. Michel added two service aces and Stark recorded a block as well.
Lily Miller had 35 assists and a service ace, while Keovilaysane had two assists and
Aubrey Villena had an assist against the Hawks.
Southern Connecticut volleyball ends their 2023 season as
Sara Enright is one of the conference leaders with 0.56 service aces per set.
Carissa Michel recorded 258 kills as Enright followed behind with 249 of her own. The Owls are ranked second in the NE10 with 178 total blocks. In addition, the team is ranked second in the conference with 229 service aces.
