SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Tops Staten Island, 135-73

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's swimming and diving defeated the College of Staten Island, 135-73, in a matchup between Northeast-10 Conference opponents.

Freshman Molly Kennedy won the 1000 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Freestyle events while Arianna Arturi won the 50 Free and had the top time in the 100 Breaststroke. Emma St. Hilaire was also on the winning 400 Medley Relay team and also won the 100 Backstroke.

400 Yard Medley Relay
The Owls 400 Medley Relay team of Abby Lyons, Emma St. Hillaire, Sara Roney and Allyson Quitos won the event with a time of 4:15.90. The "B" team of Molly Dodd, Ella Marzec, Gracie Marsh and Natalie Weier finished second at 4:30.30.

1000 Yard Freestyle
First-year Owl Molly Kennedy took the 1,000 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 11:18.03. Julia Pitchel touched at 12:38.47, ahead of Jordan Herman at 12:44.01.

200 Yard Freestyle
Hailey Nyquist won the 200 Free with a time of 1:59.32, followed by Lyons at 2:04.69 and Weier at 2:08.40.

50 Yard Freestyle
Arianna Arturi won the 50 Free event with a time of 25.11, followed by Jasmine Uricchio at 26.08.

200 Yard Individual Medley
Uricchio captured the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.58, followed by Lindsay McCawley at 2:18.84 and Paola Castillo at 2:21.56.

100 Yard Butterfly
Castillo picked up a win in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:00.94. Arturi also swam the 100 Fly and posted a time of 1:03.61 followed by Allyson Quitos at 1:04.95.

100 Yard Freestyle
Molly Kennedy picked up her second win the event with a time of 55.90 in the 100 Free, followed by Brooke Keeney at 56.24 and Justice Glasgow in third at 56.99.

100 Yard Backstroke
Emma St. Hilaire won the 100 Back event with a time of 1:04.63 followed by Zoe McNeill at 1:05.85 and Pitchell in third at 1:07.22.

500 Yard Freestyle
Abbey Piech picked up a win in the 500 Free with a time of 5:42.08. Swimming exhibition, Hailey Nyquist posted a time of 5:23.15 and Lyons touched at 5:29.74.

100 Yard Breaststroke
Arturi swam the top time in the 100 Breaststroke after touching at 1:11.04, edging St. Hilaire at 1:11.34. McCawley also finished at 1.11.88 and Keeney finished at 1:14.72.

400 Yard Freestyle Relay
The 400 Free Relay team of McCawley, Uricchio, Sara Roney and Marzec posted a time of 3:49.41 while the "B" team of Castillo, Quitos, Weier and Glasgow had a time of 3:46.27.

Southern returns to action with a busy week as they compete in back-to-back days against Yale on Thursday, Dec. 7 at Hutchinson Natatorium at 4 p.m. and then at Pace on Friday, Dec. 8.
