SCSU Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats Saint Rose & Assumption In Tri-Meet

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut men's swimming & diving defeated Saint Rose, 149.50-79.50, and Assumption, 185-30, in the Owls' tri-meet at Hutchinson Natatorium.

Kobe Dominguez was part of the winning 400 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay teams and also finished second in the 200 Backstroke. Joining Dominguez on the 400 Medley Relay was Adam Fred, Henry Velazquez and Drew Ladner, while Dominguez and Ladner teamed with Jack Fry and Dylan Prescher to win the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Samir Souidi won the 1650 Freestyle, Velazquez won the 200 Freestyle while JD Starkey won the 400 Individual Medley and Lucas Quiroga won the 500 Freestyle.

400 Yard Medley Relay
The Owls' 400 Medley Relay "A" comprised of Adam Fred, Kobe Dominguez, Henry Velazquez and Drew Ladner won the first event of the meet with a time of 3:34.23, while the "B" team of Collin Doyle, Nick Fournier, Jacob Tanner and Jake Fry was third at 3:43.79.

1650 Freestyle
Samir Souidi took the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 17:16.55.

200 Yard Freestyle
Henry Velazquez picked up the win in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:47.89, edging teammate Franklin Kuhn who touched at 1:49.24 for second place. Dylan Prescher was third at 1:49.38.

50 Yard Freestyle
Drew Ladner finished third in the 50 Free with a time of 22.00. Travis Scott tied for first place in his heat with a time of 22.75.

400 Individual Medley
JD Starkey won the 400 IM with a time of 4:19.19.

100 Yard Freestyle
Jack Fry finished second in the 100 Free with a time of 49.68.

200 Yard Backstroke
Kobe Dominguez finished second in the 200 Backstroke event with a time of 1:59.71, just .30 behind the leader in one of the closest races of the afternoon.

500 Yard Freestyle
Lucas Quiroga captured the 500 Free with a time of 4:55.26 followed by Aiden Kennedy in second at 4:55.72. Connor Skarzynski was third at 5:13.31.

200 Yard Breaststroke
Travis Scott finished second in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:22.86.

400 Yard Freestyle Relay
The 400 Free Relay team of Kobe Dominguez, Jack Fry, Drew Ladner and Dylan Prescher took the final event of the afternoon with a time of 3:19.45 while the "B" team of Starkey, Souidi, Doyle and Kennedy finished third at 3:21.53.

Diving
Jonathan Tressel won both the 1 Meter and 3 Meter Diving events, with Jayson Main finishing second. Tressel had a score of 221.25 followed by Main's 194.80 in the 1 Meter. In the 3 Meter, Tressel scored a 140.85 while Main tallied a 131.85.

Southern is back in action with its final regular-season competition of the season when it travels to Garden City, N.Y. to take on Adelphi on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m.
