SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Adelphi, 49-43, In Regular-Season Finale

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Southern Connecticut women's swimming & diving edged Adelphi, 49-43, in a dual meet in Garden City, N.Y. The Owls conclude the regular-season with five-straight wins, all against Northeast-10 Conference opponents, as they head into the NE10 Championships on Feb. 15, 2024.

Justice Glasgow and Molly Kennedy both picked up a pair of relay wins while also winning an individual race to lead the Owls. The duo teamed together on the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays with Glasgow winning the 100 Yard Freestyle and Kennedy taking the 50 Yard Freestyle. Paola Castillo won the 1000 Yard Freestyle, Arianna Arturi won the 200 Yard Freestyle and Jasmine Uricchio won the 200 Yard Butterfly.

200 Medley Relay
Southern took the top two spots in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with the "A" team, comprised of Hailey Nyquist, Allyson Quitos, Justice Glasgow and Molly Kennedy finishing at 1:51.77. The "B" team of Ella Marzec, Emma St. Hillaire, Kali Dominguez and Zoe McNeill finished second at 1:57.18.

1000 Yard Freestyle
Paola Castillo won the 1,000 Free with a time of 11:12.52, finishing 28-seconds faster than the second-place finisher from Adelphi. Julia Pitchell was third at 12:05.96.

200 Yard Freestyle
Arianna Arturi posted a 1:58.96 in the 200 Free for the win while Lindsay McCawley was third at 2:05.35.

50 Yard Freestyle
Molly Kennedy won her fifth-straight race, including a pair of wins against Bentley also against St. Rose and Assumption last weekend, with a time of 25.71 in the 50 Free. Hailey Nyquist was second at 25.89.

400 Yard Individual Medley
Abbey Piech won the 400 IM with a time of 4:53.21.

200 Yard Butterfly
Jasmine Uricchio won the 200 Fly with a time of 2:11.20 while Brooke Keeney was second at 2:19.17.

100 Yard Freestyle
Justice Glasgow captured the 100 Free with a time of 56.72 followed by Allyson Quitos in second place at 59.19. The win clinched the meet for the Owls, who swam exhibition the rest of the way.

200 Yard Backstroke
Abby Lyons posted a time of 2:14.52, which would have been good for second place, followed by Zoe McNeill at 2:18.91 in the 200 Back.

500 Yard Freestyle
The Owls' Emma St. Hilaire and Natalie Weier swam the two-best times in the 500 Free with St. Hillaire posting a 5:29.90 followed by Weier at 5:34.45.

200 Yard Breaststroke
Ella Marzec's 2:36.39 in the 200 Breaststroke and Abby Lyons' 2:43.15 would have been good for second and third, respectively.

200 Yard Freestyle Relay
The Owls' once-again posted the two-best times in the second relay of the afternoon. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay "A" team of Brooke Keeney, Justice Glasgow, Molly Kennedy and Arianna Arturi finished at 1:43.25 while the "B" team of Sara Roney, Jordan Herman, Molly Dodd and Zoe McNeill finished at 1:50.52.
