MANSFIELD, Mass. - Southern Connecticut women's basketball was named to the Northeast-10 Conference's Faces in the Crowd for this week. Faces in the Crowd is a new weekly honor roll, introduced by the NE10 in the fall season, to highlight players and teams each week for their on and off the court efforts.
The Owls have gotten off to a strong start, as they are 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. It is the Owls' longest season-opening win streak since their 2006-07 NCAA Division II National Championship season. In addition, they are the only team left in the NE10, who is unbeaten in both conference and overall play. Southern is ranked first in the conference in offense, scoring margin, defense, team field goal percentage, free-throws, steals and assists. Nationally, Southern Connecticut is ranked fourth in DII in scoring margin and fourth in assists per game.
In a 112-39 win over Bloomfield, the Owls set five new records in SCSU Women's Basketball history. They set a new record for the most points scored in a single game, set a new record of most assists in a single game with 34, second all-time in single game history with 46 made field goals, third all-time in single game history with 55% field goal percentage and tied for fourth all-time with 57.1% from the three-point line.
The Owls will travel to Manchester, New Hampshire for a NE10 matchup against Saint Anselm College on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 7, Southern will play NE10 opponent, Bentley University in a rematch of the 2024 NE10 Championship game at 1:30 p.m. in the Moore Field House.
