SCSU Men's Basketball Defeats Saint Anslem, 83-73

The Owls pick up their fourth win in a row, defeating the Saint Anslem Hawks, 83-73. This road win brings the Owls record to 16-7 on the season with a conference record of 10-7.

The Owls offense continues rolling with Marty Silvera, Kazell Stewart, Josh McGettigan, Cherif Diarra, and Mason Williams all finishing with double digit scoring. Silvera was able to put together his fourth 20 point game in a row, leading the Owls in scoring with 23 points along with five assists. Kazell Stewart would finish second in scoring with 16 points,12 of those points coming in the second half. Cherif Diarra helped the Owls outscore Saint Anslem 40-32 in the paint with his 12 points while also tying a career high of 15 rebounds, with four on the offensive glass.  

The Owls were able to command control of the game early and with only three lead changes would hold the lead for majority of the game, stretching their lead to as much as 17 points. Saint Anslem however would keep the game competitive going on multiple scoring runs tying the game and cutting the Owls lead on numerous occasions. Both teams would hed into the half tied 37-37 but the the Owls would dominate the second half outscoring the Hawks 46-36, finishing with the ten point victory.

The Owls will head into their next game looking to sweep the regular season against the University of New Haven Chargers on Tuesday February 13th at 7:30 PM in the James Moore Field House in New Haven, CT.
