SCSU Men's Basketball Defeat Franklin Pierce, 77-63

SCSU Men's Basketball pick up a bounce back win against Franklin Pierce, 77-63 bringing their record to 18-9, with a conference record of 9-5.

The Owls headed up to Rindge, NH looking to snap a two game losing streak against the FPU Ravens. To start the game the Owls found themselves in a close fought first half and even found themselves down as much as nine points. Despite shooting 2-9 from behind the arch and only shooting 30% from the field the Owls were able to close out the first half only down one with a score of 29-30.

There would be some back and forth to start the second half however the Owls would begin to attack the paint, taking only five shots from behind the arch. They would gain the lead four minutes into the half and would not surrender for the remainder of the game stretching the lead to as much as 18 points in the closing minutes.

It would be Kazell Stewart leading the Owls second half scoring efforts and would finish as the Owls leading scorer, securing a double double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Southern would finish with a total of four players in double digit scoring including Cherif Diarra who would put up a double double of his own with 15 points and a career high 17 rebounds. Josh McGettigan also came up big for the Owls putting up 17 points in the scoring column.

The Owls sweep the regular season against the Ravens going 2-0 and will look to finish their regular season off with a win as they take on Bentley University on February 27th at 730 PM in Waltham, MA.
