SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Falls To West Chester In Season Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In its first competition of the 2024-25 season, Southern Connecticut women's swimming & diving fell to nationally-ranked West Chester, 171-69.

200 Yard Medley Relay
The Owls 200 Medley Relay team of Hailey Nyquist, Allyson Quitos, Justice Glasgow and Brooke Keeney finished third with a time of 1:53.29.

1000 Yard Freestyle
Freshman Sierra Ducharme was the Owls' top finisher in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:21.16 for fourth place and two points. Lindsay McCawley also picked up a point in fifth place at 11:27.97.

200 Yard Freestyle
Owls freshman Aralyn Vogel was third with a time of 2:01.29 to earn SCSU three points in the 200 Free. Jasmine Uricchio also picked up a point with a fifth-place finish at 2:03.66.

50 Yard Freestyle
Molly Kennedy finished second in the 50 Free with a time of 24.71 for four points, while Glasgow finished fifth at 25.89.

400 Yard Individual Medley
Emma St. Hilaire finished fourth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:51.99 followed by Keeney in fifth at 4:53.82.

200 Yard Butterfly
Paola Castillo was second in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:14.87 (4 pts.) while Uricchio finished fifth at 2:18.43.

100 Yard Freestyle
Kennedy was the Owls' top finisher once again with a third-place finish in the 100 Free with a time of 54.72 (3 pts.).

200 Yard Backstroke
Zoe McNeill led Southern in the 200 Back with a third-place finish at 2:16.87 followed by Sara Roney in fourth at 2:19.47.

500 Yard Freestyle
Ducharme finished third overall in the 500 Free with a time of 5:29.10 while St. Hilaire was fifth at 5:38.21.

200 Yard Breaststroke
With the meet now an exhibition, McCawley led the Owls with a time of 2:35.77 in the 200 Breast followed by Allyson Quitos at 2:37.00. Abigail Lyons was close behind at 2:37.05.

200 Yard Freestyle Relay
Kennedy, Keeney, Vogel and Glasgow turned in a time of 1:42.18 in the 200 Free Relay followed by Uricchio, Ella Marzec, McNeill and Arianna Arturi at 1:45.73.

Southern is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 3 when it travels to Storrs, Conn. for a tri-meet against UConn and Sacred Heart at 5 p.m.
