SCSU Volleyball Falls To Bridgeport, Goldey-Beacom

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut volleyball lost both games in its season-opening quad match, falling to Bridgeport, 3-0, and Goldey-Beacom, 3-1. Queens won both of its matches as they defeated Bridgeport and Goldey-Beacom.

In the Owls first match of the day, Raegen Emery led Southern with 12 kills while also recording five digs. Madi Roar led Southern with 15 assists in the match. Jalie Miller had a team-high eight digs while Victoria Pascual had seven digs and three kills.

In the second match, the Owls won the second set, 25-17, but lost the other three sets of the four-set matchup against Goldey-Beacom. Sydney Bennett led the Owls with eight kills while hitting .417, without an attack error in 17 chances, and also had two blocks. Katie Bardak also had eight kills in her Owls' debut. Sarah Stark finished with five kills and three blocks while Roar had 22 assists.

Southern is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 7 with a tri-match featuring Queens College and Post University. The Owls face Queens at 12 p.m. and Post at 4 p.m. at Pelz Gymnasium. Both games will be live streamed on NE10Now on FloSports.
