SCSU Women's Basketball Tops Pace, 72-47, For Fourth-Straight Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball defeated Pace, 72-47, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at James Moore Field House. With the win, Southern's fourth-straight victory, the Owls improved to 11-2 overall and 4-2 in the NE10 while Pace dropped to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Katie Williamson led four Owls in double figures with 20 points with eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Hope Fox totaled 15 points and five rebounds while Delaney Haines and Ally Sentance both scored 10 points each, with both players knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Lyzi Litwinko had eight points and four rebounds after returning to the Owls' rotation for the first time since Nov. 10.



Pace's only lead of the game came in the first two minutes but a Haines' three-pointer gave Southern the early lead and they never looked back. The Owls led by 10 after the first quarter, 23-13, with Williamson totaling 12 points through the first 10 minutes of the game. The Owls used an 11-2 run that stretched from the end of the first quarter through the first 1:37 of the second quarter to take a 30-15 lead with 7:28 to go. Sentance scored eight points over the final 7:15 to lead the Owls with a 14-6 edge down the stretch and take a 44-21 lead at the break.

The Owls took a 26-point lead, their largest of the game, on a Delaney Haines three-pointer with 6:24 to go in the third quarter that gave the Owls a 51-25 lead.  Pace managed to outscored Southern over the final 6:32 of the third, 17-13, to cut the Owls' lead to 61-42 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, the Owls outlasted the Pace with an 11-5 scoring edge for the period to seal the 72-47 win.

Southern is back in action on Sunday, Jan. 6 when it hosts Assumption at 1:30 p.m. at James Moore Field House.
