D2CSC Week 10 National and Regional Rankings
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's basketball is receiving votes in the D2CSC Division II Women's Basketball National Poll and is ranked third in the East Region Top 10 for Week Ten, as announced on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The Owls received 18 votes in the National Poll, and it is the tenth-straight week that Southern has been ranked in the East Region Top 10.
The Owls had a 1-1 week, as they defeated Adelphi, 65-37 on Wednesday and fell to Bentley, 75-54 on Saturday. Against Adelphi,
Delaney Haines led the team with 21 points, as she shot 8-for-19 from the floor and made a team-best of four three-pointers. In addition, she had a team-best of six assists, three boards and two steals.
Ally Sentance recorded 10 points, shooting 3-for-5 from the field and from beyond the arc. Sentance also grabbed four rebounds and had two steals.
Renza Milner scored a season-best of nine points, had a team-best of three blocks and three rebounds.
Lyzi Litwinko had eight points, as she was 3-for-3 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the the free-throw line.
Rheyna Steinauer scored seven points and grabbed a team-best of 10 boards.
Hope Fox and
Maya Henry added four points each, as Henry was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line against the Panthers.
Against Bentley,
Jillian Martin and
Delaney Haines both led the team with 10 points each. Both made a team-best of two three-pointers, as Martin was 4-for-6 from the floor, had three boards and had two assists.
Ally Sentance had nine points, was 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, had three boards and two assists.
Hope Fox scored eight points, was 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, had a team-best of three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Renza Milner added six points and had a team-best of two blocks against the Falcons.
In the NE10, Southern leads the conference in offense with an average of 71.9 points per game, ranks first in team free-throw percentage with 79% and ranks first in assists with an average of 17.4 assists per game.
Individually in the NE10,
Katie Williamson is ranked third in scoring with an average of 16.4 points per game and
Delaney Haines is ranked fourth in scoring with an average of 15.7 points per game.
Katie Williamson is ranked second in free-throw percentage with 85% while
Hope Fox is ranked third with 84%.
Hope Fox is ranked fourth in the NE10 for steals with an average of 2.2 per game and
Jillian Martin is ranked sixth with 2.0 steals per game. In assists,
Jillian Martin is ranked sixth with an average of 3.7 assists per game,
Hope Fox is ranked seventh with an average of 3.6 per game and
Delaney Haines is ranked ninth with an average of 3.5 per game.
The Owls will return home to the Moore Field House on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1:30 p.m. against Saint Michael's College in NE10 action.
