Box Score HARTFORD, Conn. – Southern Connecticut women's basketball fell to the reigning NCAA Division I National Champions, University of Connecticut, 105-39, in an exhibition on Sunday afternoon at PeoplesBank Arena.
Southern Connecticut started the game off, 2-0 with a driving layup made by
Rheyna Steinauer after a defensive rebound was made by
Jillian Martin.
Taeya Steinauer led the Owls with 10 points, as
Iyanna Cotten had eight points and was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Rheyna Steinauer had five points, while
Ally Sentance and
Tish Blackwood both had four points each.
Marisa Lee added three points and
Hope Fox had two points for Southern.
Hope Fox and
Jada Williams had a team-best of four boards. Cotten had a team-best of two steals and a block.
Tish Blackwood had a team-best of three assists while
Jada Williams and
Taeya Steinauer both had a team-best of two assists against the Huskies.
The Owls will open the 2025 regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 pm against Georgian Court in the James Moore Field House.
