NE10 Championships: SCSU Women Lead After Day 1 Behind Record-Breaking Performance

WORCESTER, Mass. – Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming & diving found itself in the lead following the first day of the 2025 Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass. The women won both events that they competed in to take a first-day total of 137 points.

Following the Owls in second place was Bentley with 86 points followed by Felician (69), Adelphi (39), Assumption (38), Saint Michael's (38), Staten Island (24) and Pace (10). Southern won both of the events on the first day, including a program record in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay.

800 Yard Freestyle Relay
Southern's 800 Free Relay team of Molly Kennedy, Arianna Arturi, Paola Castillo and Brooke Keeney combined for a program record 7:36.90, breaking the previous program record of 7:38.91 set in 2020 by Avery Fornaciari, Alina Tucker, Megan Garner, Erin Leirey. The 2023-24 NE10 Rookie of the Year Molly Kennedy swam a 1:51.75 followed by Arturi's 1:54.44. Castillo posted a 1:57.21 while Keeney's anchor time was 1:53.30.

1000 Yard Freestyle
Lindsay McCawley came from behind to post a time of 10:25.72 to capture her sixth career NE10 Championship in the 1,000 Freestyle. McCawley placed ahead of Castillo who finished at 10:27.30 in second place while Jasmine Uricchio was fourth at 10:34.19. Natalie Weier and Sierra Ducharme finished first and second, respectively, in their heats while Weier's 10:47.80 was good for fifth place followed by Ducharme in sixth at 10:50.95.
