MANSFIELD, Mass. - Southern Connecticut women's swimming and diving student-athletes
Paola Castillo,
Molly Kennedy, and
Lindsay McCawley have been named to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the conference on Thursday, Apr. 10. In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must have started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor. They also need to have achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale. The Owls had a league-high 11 selections over all of the winter sports.
Castillo, a junior, medaled in four events at the 2025 Northeast-10 Conference Championships. She won the 1650 Freestyle (17:35.43) and the 800 Freestyle Relay (7:36.90). This was also the relay team that set the new school and conference record in the event. Castillo also earned a silver medal in the 1000 Freestyle (10:27.30) and a bronze medal in the 200 Butterfly (2:08.97). So far in her career, she has medaled 10 different times.
Kennedy was named the 2025 NE10 Championships Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet after winning all seven events she competed in and breaking school and conference records in five of them. She won the 50 Freestyle (23.22), 100 Freestyle (50.93), 200 Freestyle (1:51.90), 200 Freestyle Relay (1:34.60), 400 Freestyle Relay (3:27.69), 800 Freestyle Relay (7:36.90), and 200 Medley Relay (1:45.71). In her two years at Southern Connecticut, she has gone undefeated at the championships totaling 14 gold medals and was named the 2024 NE10 Co-Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Year.
McCawley captained the team to their fifth consecutive NE10 Championship and medaled in three events. She won the 1000 Freestyle (10:25.72), earned bronze in the 200 Breaststroke (2:25.19) and 400 Individual Medley (4:31.34). In her career, she has earned 14 medals which includes five individual championships and was a 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large selection.
