SCSU Women's Track and Field Sweeps NE10 Weekly Awards

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut Women's Track & Field swept all three Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Awards for Week 3 of the 2025 season. Kimberly Moran was named the Track Athlete of the Week, Belle Smith was named the Field Athlete of the Week, and Ginny Mullen was named the Rookie of the Week.

Kimberly Moran continues to set records in her first year as an Owl. Last weekend at the Friar Invitational, she finished fifth in the 3000m Steeplechase, setting the SCSU Program Record with a time of 10:41.89. She has now set three records across the Indoor and Outdoor seasons, after setting the program record in the 5000m and the indoor program record in the 3000m earlier this year. Her time in the Steeplechase ranks first in the Northeast-10 Conference and ninth in all of Division II.

Belle Smith was absolutely dominant at the Wilton Wright Invitational this past weekend, winning all three throwing events she competed in. She won the Hammer Throw with a personal best mark of 50.04m, also winning the Shot Put at 13.03m and the Discus Throw at 42.74m, also a personal best. She holds the top spot in the conference for all three events. This marks her second time winning the honor this year.

Ginny Mullen impressed in the Heptathlon at the Wilton Wright Invitational, setting a personal best overall score of 3826, good for fourth place. She won the 100m Hurdles and set PRs in the Shot Put, 200m Dash, Long Jump, and Javelin Throw.

The Owls return to competition this weekend, traveling up to Storrs for the UConn Northeast Challenge.
