MANSFIELD, Mass. - Southern Connecticut women's basketball graduate student Katie Williamson was named a 2024-25 Northeast-10 Conference Woman of the Year Nominee, as announced by the NE10 on Monday, May 12, 2025. The nomination and award winners are determined by the NE10 Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) Council.

Each nominee is a senior student-athlete that has excelled in all areas of their collegiate careers – on the playing surface, in the classroom and in the community. The two winners are set to be announced at the NE10 Banquet at Fratello's Events in the Millyard (Manchester, N.H.) on the night of Tuesday, June 3.

Each NE10 institution nominates student-athletes for both Man and Woman of the Year. The 2024-25 academic year marks the 13th time that the league will award the NE10 Man of the Year honor, while the NE10 Woman of the Year honor has been awarded since 2005-06 and will be put forth as the league's official NCAA Woman of the Year candidate.

Katie Williamson shines brightly not only on the basketball court; but also in the classroom, in the community and on national level. Being the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President and the NE10 Representative for National S.A.A.C., Williamson worked hard daily to make sure that all student-athlete voices were heard, not only on campus or in the NE10 but on the national level. She was a constant presence in the community at events such as Barack H. Obama Magnet University Schools' World Read Aloud Day, giving back to the Hamden Food Pantry and having a bake sale fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation; just to highlight a few of her many community service actions. In the classroom, she holds a 4.00 GPA while pursuing a graduate degree in Master's in Sport and Entertainment Management. Additionally, she held a 3.68 GPA while completing a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies in 2024. She is a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team honoree and an NE10 Academic All-Conference Team honoree. On the court, she is a two-time All-NE10 Second Team honoree and was named NE10 Player of the Week on Jan. 13, 2025. Williamson was ranked in the top 10 of the Northeast-10 Conference this season in points, free-throw percentage and blocks. She became the first player in SCSU Women's Basketball history to total 1,000 points, 100 career blocks and 100 career steals.
