SCSU Women's Soccer Picked to Finish Seventh in NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University Women's Soccer was picked to finish seventh in the 2025 Northeast 10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Thursday, August 14th.

The Owls are coming off a 6-6-6 season in 2024, setting the record for the most draws in a single season. The Owls qualified for the postseason with the eight seed and nearly upset top-seeded Adelphi in the first round of the NE10 Playoffs, ultimately falling short in golden goal overtime. Southern's 31 votes ranked seventh of the ten teams in the conference, behind Franklin Pierce (78), Adelphi (76), Southern New Hampshire (65), Bentley (56), Saint Anselm (45), and Saint Michael's (42). The Owls were ranked ahead of Assumption (28), American International (15), and Pace (14). Franklin Pierce received six of the ten first place votes, with Adelphi claiming the remaining four.

There will be plenty of new faces this season for Southern, who will be celebrating the program's 30th anniversary, with 14 new players added during the offseason. Senior Captain Shelby Green will anchor the Owls' defense after leading the team in minutes last season. Goalkeeper Abby Aughe will look to reach 100 career saves this year after collecting 84 across the past two seasons. Olivia Jones, the team's other Captain, will lockdown the midfield, with Nicky Deslauriers and Shi Reeves fueling the scoring attack. Deslauriers leads all returners in goals with four and assists with three.

The Owls kick off their season at home on September 5th when they take on the Bridgeport Purple Knights.
