SCSU Women's Soccer Draws With Bridgeport in Season Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University Women's Soccer drew with Bridgeport 0-0 in a defensive battle. The Owls start the season 0-0-1.

It was tight the entire way, with both teams getting chances but neither able to pull through. Abby Aughe pitched a shutout in net for the Owls, picking up three saves.

Many of Southern's newcomers had solid days, with junior transfer Nelli Miettinen playing the entire game in defense. Freshmen Gracie Sanders let the team with two shots, joining Julia Hargraves and Shianna Reeves as Owls who recorded shots on goal.

The Owls are back in action on Monday, September 8th when they take on Georgian Court at home.
