NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut women's basketball standout
Tish Blackwood was named Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for Week 13, as announced by the NE10 on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026. This is the fifth straight week that Blackwood has been named NE10 Rookie of the Week. This season, Blackwood is the only basketball player to have earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors, for five consecutive weeks. Additionally, she has been named NE10 Rookie of the Week, six times overall, and leads the conference for the most Rookie of the Week honors earned by an individual student-athlete this season.
Tish Blackwood had another standout week for the Owls as she recorded back-to-back double-doubles. Against Assumption, Blackwood had her ninth double-double of the season with a team-best of 13 rebounds, a team-best of 12 points, was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and had two steals. In the 74-59 victory over American International, Blackwood had her 10
th double- double with 20 points, a team-best of 16 boards, with 11 rebounds coming from the defensive end. In addition, she shot 8-for-14 from the floor, was 4-for-6 from the free-throw line and had three assists.
Tish Blackwood leads the NE10 in rebounds, with an average of 9.3 boards per game.
Southern Connecticut women's basketball will travel to Garden City, N.Y. for an NE10 matchup against Adelphi at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The Owls will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1:30 pm against Saint Michael's in the James Moore Field House.
