Chris Redding is in his first season as an assistant football coach at Southern Connecticut State in 2026, coaching special teams and linebackers.
Redding came to Southern after serving as inaugural head football coach at Ballantyne Ridge High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he built the program from the ground up in one of the largest school districts in the state. His players earned NCAA Division I offers from schools including Cincinnati and Virginia Tech.
He previously led the program at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology in Charlotte, where his athletes posted a 37% grade-point average improvement and a 100% graduation rate. He also coached at Ardrey Kell High School, helping the Knights win back-to-back conference titles, and coached in the Queen City Senior Bowl.
Redding began his college coaching career as assistant coach and special teams analyst at the University at Albany, where he coached wide receivers and assisted with recruiting and game planning in the Colonial Athletic Association.
A former wide receiver at the University of New Hampshire, Redding helped the Wildcats to two national semifinal appearances. He earned a bachelor's degree in recreation management and policy with minors in business administration and sports studies.
Off the field, he is executive director and owner of the Vermont All-Star Football Camp, where he leads a staff of more than 30 coaches and trains hundreds of student-athletes each year.
